I learned from a post on Cartoon Research that today, January 22nd, is the 75th anniversary of the Tex Avery cartoon Bad Luck Blackie. I remembered it pretty well, especially the bulldog's distinctive laugh (which the post points out was voiced by Avery himself). The post fails to point out the most important gag (from my perspective). However, it is called out in the cartoon's article on TVTropes (in the Forcibly Formed Physique trope).
Besides Bad Luck Blackie's anniversary, the cats cartoon header stayed up at News from ME and there was a new post on Cinema Cats. Positive kitty karma! (OK, there's usually a Cinema Cats post, but today's was for an animated movie.)
