I learned from a post on Cartoon Research that yesterday, January 17th, was the 95th anniversary of Popeye's first appearance in E.C. Segar's comic strip Thimble Theatre. The same day, I read Well, Blow Me Down from News from ME which announced the reprinting of the comics strip by Fantagraphics.
